Old Dutch Weekend at Keukenhof, 3 April – 6 April 2015

With millions of flower bulbs, a barrel organ, a pancake restaurant and a mill Keukenhof offers an authentic Dutch atmosphere.

However, during the weekend of April 3rd to 6th it will become even more Dutch. Keukenhof, with Van Gogh as the year’s theme, is demonstrating this with all the Old Dutch events.

Ancient handicrafts, folk costumes, cheese carriers, folk dancers, shanty choirs, all this ‘Old Dutch’ is to be experienced at Keukenhof from April 3rd to 6th. There are dance and music performances by The Meerse Hoppers and the Eemland Dancer in traditional costumes. There are also living statues of Old Dutch figures and Keukenhof visitors can take a photo with the cheese maids who accompany the cheese carriers and traders from Alkmaar, Hoorn, Gouda, Edam and Woerden.

During this weekend, in cooperation with the Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen, eels will be smoked at the Keukenhof and a historic market-boat will come to the park. In the past, several towns came to a mutual agreement and their boats took turns in selling their wares. A market-boat usually sets sail on natural waters such as the IJ, the Zuiderzee and the Haarlemmermeer.
