Groot & Groot

Groot-Groot was founed in 1960 by Wim Groot, Wim started with the cultivation of tulips and and irises. Later lilies were added to the assortment. The company was operating under the name of “Wim Groot bloembollenbedrijf”. When in 1981, Michiel Groot joined his dad in the company the name was changed to W.Groot&Zn. Around this time Michiel and his dad made the decision to fully focus on lilies and sell the tulip and irisses assortment. Because of this decision there was plenty of time in the summer to start growing peonies. This step has been made by Michiel in 1999. From that moment the assortment grew every year, up till today the peonies are the main activity of Groot-Groot. In 2002 Wim Groot decided to retire from the company, Michiel and his wife Hilda Groot continued running the company under the name of Groot & Groot. At this moment the peony cultivation is split into the cultivation for flowers and the cultivation for roots.
